Gulab Jamun

This food belongs to Indiandesserts. It is considered as one of the sweetest food in India. Gulab Jamun isa milk based, berry sized, sweet ball. These are fried and dipped in sugarsyrup.
Without Gulab Jamun, no Indian festival is complete. This dessert can beserved in all celebrations, like birthdays, marriages, ceremonies. Some peoplelike to eat Jamun with Kulfi in summer.

Ingredients
  

For making Gulab Jamun

  • 2 cups milk powder
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 7-8 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 2 tbsp semolina
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • ghee or any other oil

Instructions
 

For making sugar syrup

  • Add 3 cups sugar and 3 cups water to a pot.
  • Add 4 cardamom pods into the pot.
  • Boil this until the syrup turns slightly sticky.
  • Sugar syrup put aside and close.

For making Gulab Jamun

  • Add 2 cups of milk powder, 2 tbsp plain flour and 1/2 tsp baking powder to a bowl and mix it. make sure the mixture is uniform.
  • Then add butter to that mixture and mix again everything.
  • Add semolina, 7-8 tbsp milk and make a soft dough.
  • Keep the dough for few minutes.
  • Devide the dough to equal protions and make smooth balls without any lines or cracks on them.
  • Add the balls gently and fry them on a medium heat for 1 or 2 minutes.
  • After 2 minutes of frying, reduce the flame to low and fry until golden.
  • When they turn golden, take them off the pan and drain them very well.
  • The sugar syrup heat again, it must be hot and not very hot.
  • Add the balls directly to the hot sugar syrup. Keep ith aside for 3-4 hours.
